Adapt and Sustain, founded by Barbara Watt, is a natural progression from Adapt Assessment, a successful training and assessment company set up to develop Commercial and Domestic Energy Assessors, founded and co-directed by Barbara since 2004.

Barbara’s background is in education. With over 20 years of experience in further and higher education and industry she has designed innovative, vocational, post graduate Award winning courses. Barbara sat on and contributed to all the Government Steering Groups related to the new suite of Energy Assessor qualifications. Her wealth of knowledge and experience has been shared with everyone who has turned to her for advice, de-coding the jargon and facilitating routes to success.

She has also recently been extensively involved with UK Green Building Council’s (UKGBC) Sustainability Training and Education Programme (STEP). UKGBC is a membership organisation whose mission is to dramatically improve the sustainability of the built environment, by radically transforming the way it is planned, designed and constructed.

Everyone who has worked with Barbara knows that her real talent and expertise lies in simply ‘making it happen’; her ability to quickly grasp an issue and see the practical solution, often cutting through the bureaucratic red tape and in the process improving business thinking and maximising opportunities for both companies and individuals:

Learning and sharing new knowledge can be contagious, unlock many doors and business opportunities. The focus on reducing carbon emissions is intense and we all want to find ways to reduce our overheads and improve energy security. The drive to change has never felt stronger but the reality is that many building occupants and owners remain confused over how to start the journey to become more sustainable.
